Primary characters are those around whom the novels revolve. They play pivotol roles in the series or provide important interaction points for other characters. Secondary characters are those that are useful and even essential in some cases to the plots of the novels but they are not the focus of the story. They perform more than a passing function. Minor or filler characters are those that may fill a role in a story but are not necessarily needed in the novels. (This is not to say that they are not loved!)
