Character Description

As Orlando, he was tall, and handsome in a manly, Marlboro Man sort of way, though his features were softening as he aged. His dark hair was beginning to to gray at the temples and his eyes were gray. He had claw mark scars on the side of his neck and elsewhere on his body, which he would display as part of his lecture finale. His voice was deep and rolling. Anita figured him for two generations removed from her, so his age was roughly 60-65.

Character Occupation

As Orlando King, he was a bounty hunter of lycanthropes, and then a speaker on preternatural matters. He would occasionally advise police.
As Chimera, he was a crazed would -be monarch of all were groups.

Character Race

Orlando was a human who contracted several different kinds of lycanthropy,lycanthropy, making him a panwere.panwere. This meant that he could shapeshift into several different were forms. (werebear, werelion, werelepard, werewolf, weresnake) His human personality shattered under the strain and he became Multiple Personality. The Chimera persona was the werelion.

Character Factoids

• Anita had attended one of hisOrlando King's lectures: he said he remembered her because she was petite, female, and sported scars as impressive as his own. When rumor suggested she, too, was a panwere, he (as Chimera) became obsessed with having her for a mate.
• His other personalities included Coronus, the snake man, Boone, the werebear ( seen in human form), and Chimera, seen in lionman form. As the lionman, he was golden, tawny, muscled, masculine, with a mane around his half-human face that was almost black. The claws on his hands were like black daggers. The Chimera personality was the dominant one and looked down on the others, because "They still believed in themselves."
• His human form of Chimera was another personality, which looked and sounded different from Orlando. His eyes bcame mismatched to one wolf and one leopard, and it was as if someone else had settled into his skin. His voice changed to something more Southern-sounding, with rounder vowels. His Chimera personality was willing to rape, murder, have homosexual sex, and do the darker deeds that Orlando found hard to accept. The Chimera personality said he protected Orlando from Orlando.
• HisOrlando's bounty hunting reputation was that he always made the kill. He preferred to take weres in human form, since it was safer for him. When he was clawed by a wolf in wolf form, he decided to die by lycanthrope: he hunted as many forms of predatory lycanthropes as he could, and was infected by all of them. He ended by trying to kill an entire tribe of weresnakes in the Amazon Basin, where the full moon found him. He "changed into what Abuta and his people are, then a wolf, then a bear, then a leopard, then a lion, so forth, and so on." (NiC)
• The snakes worshipped him for being able to take so many forms, and sent half their tribe back to the States with him.
• Per Dr. Lillian, Chimera did not have rat lycanthropy. (DM)
• He controlled the alphas by abusing the submissives (DM) and would torture the alphas directly. If he could force a dominant to submit, he often killed them, as he did Henry MacNair.
• The men he could not force to commit rape he required to grow their hair long.long as a punishment.
• Chimera got Narcissus pregnant; the fate of the pregnancy has never been explicitly stated,stated in the books, though itLKH has stated that Narcissus lost the child. It may be presumed to have miscarried before term. Weres with acquired lycanthropy cannot carry to term because the forced change of form at the full moon is too violent and often causes miscarriage.
• Anita killed him by sucking out his life energy as she had learned to do from Itzpapalotl in New Mexico and finally releasing his soul from his body with her necromancy. She used the energy she gained to power the healing and fighting for her wolves and vampires and leopards, including Micah. Richard would not accept it.
