Character Description

Donovan is about six feet tall. His skin is a creamy white, with a pink flush. His eyes are a pale blue gray that shift with his mood. He is handsome, in a clean-cut, preppy way. His body hair is actually fine white feathers. He has a birthmark in an undisclosed location shaped like a swan, that is the symbol of his kingship. He says he is the first swan king to be born in over a century.

Character Occupation

Being Swan King is a full time occupation-going from place to place caring for the other swans keeps him very busy. He has a college degree, subject unspecified, but he doesn't expect to use it professionally. (NiC) There are one to six swanmanes in every major city in the USA. His greatest wish is to not be king. (TH).

Lycanthrope - swan. White.

Donovan is alive as of TH.

Character Associations and Ties

The swans are autonomous - they have never thrown in with any other were group. Donovan is intrigued by the idea of a coalition of shapechangers, but has trouble at first seeing it as a relationship of equals. (NiC) He comes to believe in the coalition strongly enough to spread the idea throughout the country. He considers his ties with Anita strong enough to risk his life and his swanmanes, because she risked herself for them.(TH)

  • Donovan is a swan king, a hereditary position.
  • A specially shaped birthmark identifies the leader. The mark is in a spot normally covered by clothing.
  • His shape changing is hereditary, not acquired, and is under his control more so than the weres' shape changing.
  • He was born with some of the skills required for the job.
  • He believes his hair will be replaced with feathers if he lives long enough.(NiC)
  • There was no swan queen born of his generation, so he has double the workload. (TH)

  • He doesn't go for BDSM, though some of his swanmanes do.
  • The lesser swans are referred to as swanmanes, even the males. There are one to six in every major city in the US, and Donovan is king to them all. At no time does canon refer to them as wereswans.

I think a someone who could fit the bill for Donovan Reece is the actor Paul Bettany (especially in his role in the Davinci Code)
