Character Name

Marcus Fletcher

Also Known As

Dr. Fletcher, Ulfric

First Seen in

The Lunatic Cafe

Character Description

Marcus is no more than five feet seven inches tall, but he has the unmistakable air of command. His hair is blond with brown lowlights, and he wears it cut short, styled and blow dried. His lips are thin and his jaw is square, and the dimple in his chin does not soften him any. Marcus wears no facial hair. He wears business casual in something of a Miami Vice style when after hours on pack business; we see him first in black slacks and a pale blue linen blazer with a matching sweater beneath it. For formal occasions at the lupanar, he wore a brown tuxedo with satin lapels and a gold shirt.

Marcus was an alpha werewolf, strong enough to be Ulfric of the Thronnos Rokke Pack. His age was not given, but from his profession and demeanor, can be estimated at late forties. He described himself, possibly ironically, as an 'old man.' (tKD)

Character Status

Marcus is dead as of the end of tKD, slain by Richard.

Character Associations and Ties

Marcus was the Ulfric of the Thronnos Rokke clan. His Lupa was Raina, whom he loved.
He and Jean-Claude had an uneasy alliance, because Marcus needed the vampire's aid to consolidate the weres in one group under him, and Jean-Claude needed the support of the wolves to keep mastery of the city. Jean-Claude reneged and threw in with Richard.(tKD)

  • He wished to be leader of a combined group of weres in St. Louis; none of the other were groups wished him to have that much power. (LuC) (tKD)
  • Richard believed him to have some sense of honor, though he believed Marcus had been corrupted by Raina. Richard was sure Marcus would not have sanctioned the snuff films, though he did sanction the porn. (LuC)
  • Rafael thought Marcus had no honor, and that Raina had cost him that. (tKD)
  • Marcus killed the old Ulfric, Simon, to take the pack. (LuC) Richard had defeated Marcus in battle twice, but refused to kill him, thinking instead to come to some sort of accommodation. (tKD) Marcus could not kill Richard outside the challenge circle without the pack turning on him, though if someone else killed Richard, Marcus would retain leadership. Otherwise, the Ulfric would have to defend himself in challenge with his own skill and strength.(tKD)
  • He has the alpha strength of being able to do a partial shift, but he doesn't have tehthe ability to feed, heal, and strengthen the pack with his blood, as Richard can. (tKD)
  • The werewolves tithe to Marcus, and he likes the income stream. (tKD)
  • RiachardRichard and Anita took marks to give Richard enough power to defeat Marcus without killing him, but the choice was Marcus' to die. He chose to fight in human form with only shifted hands, and Richard scooped his heart from his chest. Richard and the pack ate the body.
