Character Description

Musette has a striking, childlike beauty, with her long blond hair, blue eyes and rosebud mouth. She uses cosmetics carefully and skillfully to play this up. Her brows are much darker than her hair. She is tiny, standing barely five feet tall in high heeled shoes. On her trip to St. Louis, she wears long white dresses, though she may wear her hair loose and waving over her shoulders, or styled into the banana curls popular in the nineteenth century. She gives the appearance of a tiny, scary Barbie doll.

Character Status

Musette is undead and presumed to be unliving in France.

Character Factoids

  • Valentina is her helpful henchwoman for torture.
  • Belle trusts her to be her vaisseau , to carry her seal and speak for her.
  • Belle can use her for an avatar; she can speak and act through Musette, though her power is attenuated when she does this.
  • Musette prefers her sex with men, and prefers pain to sex, though she has slept with Asher in the past.
  • She has tortured both Asher and Jean-Claude in the past, and sticks a knife into Asher for the joy of it.
  • Her ability to call rats is a recent thing, less than fifty years old, and she does not have sufficient strength to compel the wererats to do things, though she can prevent them from doing things.
  • She likes her blood from young people; her pomme de sang was about fifteen and had to be sent home early because blood donors in the States have to be at least age eighteen.
  • She speaks English with a heavy French accent.
  • Her behavior can be quite uncouth; she doesn't always address servants correctly and her laughter sounds like braying at times.
  • Musette visted St. Louis nearly three months ahead of schedule, about mid-September, in order to challenge and confuse Jean-Claude. She brought with her Valentina, Bartolome, Paolo (whom Jean-Claude and Asher particularly hate), Angelito, and two of Marmee Noir's servants.
  • Anita questions if she ever lived as a noble before being turned into a vampire. She shows signs that she never did and just pretends to have noble blood.
