I would love to know a bit more about some of the other preternaturals, such as nagas and the swan people. How much of these stories are based on mythological traditions and how much is pure Laurell K Hamilton invention?

Information about the nagas can be found in the ' Legends" page just under "Other Preternaturals". Unfortunatly, we don't as yet have a pag on the were-swans.
As for how much is mythology and how much is LKH; LKH prides herself on being fairly accurate. I'll be bold and say 95% of her mythological information is facts gathered from study.
