In the Anitaverse, the term preternatural refers to any beings or the skills possessed by these beings that are beyond the natural human scope, typically of a magical or divine origin. The term is often used interchangeably or in conjunction with the words: 'Supernatural' and 'Metaphysical'.

Any crimes committed involving the preternatural are investigated by the Regional Preternatural Investigation Taskforce - RPIT.
