Raising Rituals

Various techniques or rituals are used to raise zombies depending on the training and power of the person doing the calling. A ritual is a means by which to call or activate the power. In all cases, the person employing the ritual most have some amount of 'connection' to the dead.

In the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series we see three different methods of raising zombies: Animator, Vaudun practitioner, and necromancer.

Necromancer: The first time Anita raises zombies as a 'Necromancer' is most likely when she did so by accident in the Circus of the Damned during The Killing Dance. In raising power with Jean-Claude and Richard, Anita gathers too much energy and must release it somehow. She ends up pushing the power into the earth, and raising more than twenty zombies from Nikolaos' old graveyard. In any instances after though, Anita uses her standard animating practises, though her power is immensely increased by being a Necromancer.
