This is the first book where we see the vampire marks requiring Anita to eat more. We see this again in Burnt Offerings, and then Nathaniel reveals to Anita later—I think in Danse Macabre, but I can't remember—we see it again. However, it isn't just because of the vampire marks that Jean-Claude has placed on Anita. It is a way to push back the ardeur so it doesn't bother her as often, and also so she doesn't drain Damian (her vampire servant) and Nathaniel (her animal to call). 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
